Meet Cathy
Background
I am a retired Cincinnati Public School teacher with 33 years experience in early childhood and special education. Throughout my career, I taught preschool, kindergarten, first grade and preschool special education. Within my first decade in the classroom, I discovered my passion for preschool special education, a field that shaped the remaining 25 years of my work. As a Preschool Intervention Specialist, I provided services to children on Individualized Special Education Plans (IEPs) across public and private schools, daycares and homes. My role centered on close collaboration with occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists and classroom teachers to ensure each child received comprehensive individualized support.
I also worked directly with families and educators offering strategies and materials tailored to each student’s unique needs. In addition, I wrote and led ETR and IEP meetings, ensuring clear communication and strong advocacy for every child.
Degrees
I hold a Bachelor of Science and degree in Special Early Childhood Special Education from the University of Cincinnati, with certifications in Preschool, K-3 and Preschool Special Education.
Hobbies
Outside of my professional work, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, reading and playing pickleball.
